The Beach
Bondi is located just 7km east of the Sydney central business district, and is one of Australia’s most famous and iconic beaches. This location was named after the aboriginal word Boondi meaning water braking over rocks. Predominantly a working class suburb throughout the twentieth century. Today Bondi boasts a vast array of multiculturalism and with in this suburb is a hub of shops, restaurants, cafés, pubs and wine bars. With such land marks as The Bondi Icebergs Club, The Bondi Pavilion, R.S.L’s and life Saving Clubs. It is little wonder that Bondi attracts so many tourist nationally and from all over the world. With a population being approximately 10,000 people and an estimated 5 million visitor’s a year. This vibrant suburb is quite the hive of activity.
The Club
Neseled amongst all the hype that is Bondi you will find us, The Bondi Board Riders Club. Established in the early 80’s, with the contest site locate between the Bondi Icebergs Club and Pavilion on the beautiful South Bondi Hill. Our club has run regular monthly surfing competitions for over twenty years and is the only short board club on this stretch of beach.
